Waxing is a non-permanent hair removal method that removes hair from the root using strip wax or hot wax.
All our therapist use a high quality resin for our strip and hot wax. For intimate area we use hot wax with no double dipping with our spatulas. As with all our treatments we have strict hygiene standards.
WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN STRIP WAX AND HOT WAX?
Strip wax is runny wax that’s applied in a thin layer using a disposable wooden spatula stick. Hair is then immediately removed applying a disposable strip and quickly peeling it off.
Hot wax is a thicker wax which like with strip wax is applied with disposable wooden spatula but unlike strip wax no disposable strip is applied, the wax is left to harden and then wax is peeled off.
WHEN TO CHOOSE STRIP OR HOT WAX
Strip wax is used for larger areas as it is much quicker to apply and remove. It’s almost always used for areas like legs, general bikini areas, arms, back & face. It’s generally better as it grips strongly to both the hair and skin.
Hot wax is more suitable for waxing sensitive areas. Which is why it’s used for more intimate areas of Hollywood & Brazilian waxes. As the wax is left on the skin for up to a minute, the heat opens the pores and hair follicles allowing the hair to wax out much more easily. It also has a stronger grip on the hairs, which makes it ideal for thicker more stubborn hair. It can even wax hairs of 1mm in length!
WHY USE STRIP WAX?
Hot wax is good for both sensitive skin and thicker hairs. Though hot wax doesn’t perform as well on thinner hairs, so it wouldn’t be as effective on areas like arms or legs.
WHEN WOULD MY THERAPIST USE STRIP WAX FOR A HOLLYWOOD / BRAZILIAN?
Most therapists will go straight for hot wax when it comes to a Hollywood wax but they may quickly remove thinner hairs outside and above your bikini line with strip wax.
If you have thinner hair down there than the norm. For some, a few laser treatments thin the hair out and make the root much weaker too. This makes strip waxing effective there.
Our experienced technician, who have experience in both types of wax, will know which type of wax will work best and be least painful for you.
For the best results please wait 4 weeks from your last wax or 3 weeks from your last shave. Please do not trim hair beforehand we will do this if need be. It is recommended to book your waxing in at 4-6 weekly intervals to achieve the smoothest results. Please note that for first time waxers it may take 3-4 waxes to achieve this.
Please ensure you arrive clean and fresh for your waxing treatment. We have many clients that get waxed after work and provide intimate hygiene wipes also so this is not a problem.
