Microdermabrasion can reduce the appearance of wrinkles, reduce acne scars, blackheads, minimise the size of the pores, reduce sun damage, and even out the skin tone. Microdermabrasion also helps to boost collagen production to provide firming and toning to the complexion.
What is Microdermabrasion?
Microdermabrasion is a facial procedure that uses manual exfoliation to remove the outer layer of skin. We use a Diamond tipped wand to exfoliate the surface of your skin.
How does Diamond Microdermabrasion work?
Genuine, laser-cut sterile diamond tips gently remove the upper layer of the skin to polish the skin surface while a vacuum removes particles and impurities and dead skin cells.
This treatment increases the absorption of products into the skin which can help to rejuvenate and replenish the skin still further. It also stimulates the production of collagen and elastin, resulting in a more youthful appearance and healthy skin. The combination of vacuum and pressure ensure diamond-peel uniformity and allow for personalised exfoliation treatments, according to skin type.
What is the difference between Crystal Microdermabrasion and Diamond Microdermabrasion?
The regular crystal microdermabrasion technology involves the use of a special, hand-held device that propels a high-speed flow of aluminum oxide crystals onto the skin. At the same time, the machine's vacuum system sucks away dirt, dead cells and used crystals.
Aluminum oxide crystals have been the most commonly used abrasive agent for the last 20 years. Aluminum oxide is the second hardest mineral (diamonds are first). There has been a link between aluminum use on the body (deodorants) and cancer. Sodium bicarbonate crystals are an organic alternative to aluminum oxide crystals but they are a lot softer and less effective in microdermabrasion.
The diamond dermabrasion system, on the other hand, replaces the micro-crystal flow with a laser cut diamond tip wand. Areas closer to the eyes and mouth can be abraded more accurately with diamond abrasion (no risk of stray crystals causing damage, getting into your eyes, nose or being ingested). No risk to the operator for repetitive exposure.
Other than that, crystal-free diamond head microdermabration works in the same way traditional microabrasion does. Diamond microderm machines usually come with wands of varied size and coarseness for different skin types and depths of resurfacing. The wand tip is made of natural laser cut diamond chips which polish the skin and remove dead cells, which are then vacuumed back into a waste filter. Many professionals prefer natural diamond tips because they are easier to control don't irritate the skin and give a more precise treatment (natural minerals are less likely to trigger adverse reactions).
Microdermabrasion Facial £55.00
Our microdermabrasion treatment begins with a double cleanse, then your skin is prepped. The diamond-tipped wand is passed over the skin to gently remove dead skin cells. A nourishing facial masque is applied and a neck & shoulder massage helps relieve tension, in the main area we tend to hold our stress. The treatment is completed with a moisturiser to suit your skin type and an SPF to protect your skin from UV damage.
Deluxe Microdermabrasion Treatment £65.00
Our deluxe microdermabrasion treatment is an extended version of the microdermabrasion Facial.
An advanced masque is used to firming, hydrating or soothing which will help to further your results. For further relaxation and to help detox and rejuvenate the skin an aromatherapy facial massage is performed. This is the ultimate in relaxing facial treatments with the added bonus of younger, healthier skin.
Advanced Electrical Microdermabrasion Treatment £75.00
The advanced Electrical microdermabrasion treatment includes all the elements of the deluxe treatment but with added benefit of using advanced electrical modalities.
This may include:
Iontophoresis (Galvanic) - will help to push product deeper into the skin. Ideal for people with dry, pigmented, dehydrated or irritated skin including acne.
Disincrustation (Galvanic) - will help to soften sebum trapped in the skins' pores, which cause blackheads. This will allow them to squeeze them out easily without damaging the skin. If the skin is too dehydrated, we will recommend a hydrating treatment first.
Direct High Frequency - Here we utilise a glass electrode to produce O-zone that will help to kill off the bacteria being produced inside the spot. This will help it to heel quicker, minimise inflammation pigmentation and scaring.
Indirect High Frequency - You will be holding the glass electrode while we perform a facial massage. This method is better for dryer/dehydrated skins as it will increase circulation, aid healing but also stimulate the sebaceous glands. As well as aiding in the reduction of fine lines and wrinkles.
LED Light Therapy - LED Light Therapy, has been scientifically proven to stimulate cellular activity deep within the tissues of the skin in order to reduce and control inflammatory acne, reduce the visible signs of sun damage and hyperpigmentation, and restore your skin’s healthy glow. Using Red, Blue, or Infrared, or a powerful combination of one or more, stimulates the production of collagen and elastin for stronger, healthier skin, increases circulation of water and nutrients to the skin, as well as moisture retention, and promotes cellular turnover and growth. The result: firm, healthy, fresh-looking skin that looks and feels younger. Blue Light Therapy, in particular, treats both inflammatory and non-inflammatory acne by targeting the harmful bacteria at the root of many acne breakouts.
Advanced Microdermabrasion Treatment £85.00
The advanced microdermabrasion treatment includes all the elements of the deluxe treatment but with added benefit of a professional skin peel.
Microdermabrasion removes much of the top layer of skin in the epidermis, while a chemical peels deals with the living part of the skin, the dermis. Microdermabrasion is “mechanical” exfoliation and chemical peels are “chemical” exfoliation. The skin peel is selected based on your skin type. There are a variety of peels for acne, pigmentation and anti-aging. Whatever your skin’s needs, it starts with one treatment to see positive changes in your skin.
What will my skin be like after and is there any aftercare?
Microdermabrasion is a safe and gentle procedure. The client will need to protect his or her skin with moisturiser and sun block for 48 hours after the treatment and may experience mild redness and sloughing/peeling. However, the client can return to work immediately, which is why many clients prefer to have microdermabrasion treatments on their lunch breaks since there is no downtime.
How Many Treatments Do I Need?
When it comes to microdermabrasion, one treatment will not provide instant results. That is why it is important to have a series of microdermabrasion services, 3 to 6 are recommended for the best results. These initial 3 to 6 treatments can be spaced one week apart, and from that point, the client can continue to receive one treatment on a monthly basis for the best maintenance.
